About the Founder

Late Lakhimi Borooah

Late Lakhimi Borooah is the pioneer of children’s chess in Assam. She established the P.C. Borooah Educational and Charitable Society in the memory of her late father in law in 1988 with a small inheritance she had received from him.

Lakhimi Borooah was very keen on giving back to society and she did so by undertaking various social activities. However, promoting and popularizing chess amongst the children in this region was the closest to her heart.

The P.C. Borooah Chess Academy, a non-profit organization, was founded by Late Lakhimi Borooah as a way to provide chess classes to kids. This academy has produced many state, national and international level chess players over the years.

About the Academy

PC Borooah Chess Academy

Is a pioneering children’s Chess Academy started by late Lakhimi Borooah in 2001.

The P.C. Borooah Chess Academy has produced many state, national and international chess players over the years and has played a pivotal role in the development of children’s chess in Assam.

Conveniently located on one of the main arteries of Guwahati city, the P.C. Borooah Chess Academy offers courses for Beginners and Intermediate level students. There is also an Advanced course for experienced players.

The Head Coach is Chiraranjan Bhuyan, a fide rated player with a rating of 1486. He is very experienced and has won many championships.

This course is for beginners and it includes the Basics of Chess, The Opening Moves and Checkmate

Intermediate Chess

This is for intermediate players and it covers Opening with variation, Middle game and End game
